  1. I got the chills looking through these pictures. That first one of you snuggling your babies?? Precious! Thanks for sharing your story with us!

    • Thanks for reading, Rachael! That first photo? Those are the eyes of a crazy person. I’ll never forget that extreme sleep deprivation as long as I live 😉

  2. Thank you for sharing this. My son was born 20 days early - that’s 1 day enough to not be considered premature, but he still spent the first 6 days in the NICU, and your newborn pictures look eerily familiar. Those were the longest days of my life, so I can’t imagine what you went through. He turned two last July and is healthy, happy, and (in my opinion) completely amazing. I really admire what you have done for your twins to give them the best advantages. It has definitely paid off! Also, hugs, because I know that looking at my newborn pictures can still make me cry.

    • Thanks Jelourai! Even though the twins are now almost three, I still have a hard time going through our pictures from that first month in the NICU. And there are many parents who have had an even longer road than we did. Thinking of all those tiny fighting souls and their families tonight.

  3. It is SO difficult for me to look at our new born photos too- I am grateful every day, every single day, that I get to hold my two precious little girls.

  4. Those pictures are making me well up, because they remind me so much of my own twins early days photos. My girls were just over 5 weeks early. Not too bad for twins, but they still spent two weeks in the special care unit for a few complications and I’ll never forget how well cared for they were. We met many parents there on a much more difficult path than ours and I’m so thankful for my happy, healthy girls.

  5. I am always in awe at the amazing things doctors can do. To care for such little babies and keep them healthy and safe is such a miracle! My boys were at the other end of the scale (both 2 weeks late) but I was a little premmie baby myself. I am so thankful for my family and hubby’s family and all that they do to help us out.

  6. It is truly amazing to see these little ones and know that they have grown into big and strong children.

  7. I didn’t even know that there was a world Prematurity day thanks for sharing. My daughter was born at 25 weeks and is doing extremely well considering everything that happened. She is almost 3 and I can’t believe it’s been that long already she laughs and plays and smiles and I can’t even imagine that she wouldn’t have made it but back then they said she might not make it was hard to think about but I too am thankful for the doctors and i’m thankful for the smile on my little girl’s face. -Amy
