Hello hello! If you hadn’t noticed, this year I’m feeling decidedly technicolor when it comes to Christmas. So, just for fun, I thought I would round up our rainbow-inspired Christmas projects and activities from this year and sprinkle in a good dose of those from other awesome bloggers, too. This post contains lots of inspiration for colorful things to make and do with kids at Christmas. So, without further adieu, I present our rainbowlicious, Christmastastic, colorrific roundup of…
Rainbow Christmas Crafts and Activities for Kids

Mini Felt Chain
First order of business- decking your halls! Have your kiddos help you make this multi-colored mini felt chain from Buzzmills- isn’t just the sweetest thing?
Felt Shapes Garland
For more inspiration, hop on over to Imagine Gnats to see how they made their beautiful and whimsical felt shapes garland- especially great if you have a large bag of felt scraps like I do.
Rainbow Dip-Dyed Christmas Lights
Because you can never have too many garlands, why not try your hand at our rainbow dip dyed Christmas lights? Kids love dipping the wooden bulbs into the bright colors, and you can use them for garland, ornaments, jewelry, or even additions to dry sensory bins.
Paper Gnome Advent Calendar
One more garland from us- I couldn’t leave out our paper gnome advent calendar. Each colorful gnome hides a secret activity that you can uncover by opening his arm flaps- we’re having lots of fun with this right now!
Rainbow Barley Molded Ornaments
Another fun way to add some rainbow flair to your decor is with ornaments for your tree. We made these molded ornaments with rainbow dyed barley and they turned out beautifully and are a great kid-friendly project!
Kid-made Wrapping Paper
Now that your tree is a kaleidoscope of color, don’t forget your gifts! Petit á Petit and Family did this beautiful wrapping paper using watercolors- an easy and gorgeous project for your youngest elves.
Of course, if your children prefer to get messy with their art or are too young for a paintbrush, throw caution to the wind and go to town like Things for Boys did with their finger paint wrapping paper. This could be easily done in any combination of colors- or all of them!
Rainbow Marbled Salt Dough
Another way to add color to gifts is with toppers or tags- we made some beautiful ones with our rainbow marbled salt dough. They add just the right amount of pastel rainbow pop on gifts wrapped with plain brown paper.
Jingle Bell Anklets
As for gifts themselves, our jingle bell anklets with dyed wooden beads would make the perfect rainbow stocking stuffer.
Dyed Wooden Blocks
Or try your hand and some of these Grimm style dyed wooden blocks from Fun at Home With Kids- just beautiful!
DIY Solstice Lanterns
These solstice lanterns from Crafting Connections are absolutely stunning, and a fun way to connect with your little ones during the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
Rainbow Snowflake Window Art
Looking for some rainbow-inspired activities to keep the kids busy? Why not make some rainbow snowflake window art like we did recently? My toddlers had a blast creating the colored paper for these with their buddies on a playdate.
DIY Dreamcatcher
Need a kid-made gift for someone special? How about this 10-minute DIY dreamcatcher from Crafting Connections? Ohmygorgeous is all I have to say.
Rainbow Pipe Cleaner Trees
Or you could create some of these whimsical rainbow pipe cleaner trees as seen at Play Trains- how fun are these? You could use them for train layouts, small world play, ornaments, decor…lots of possibilities!
Felt Play Trees
Buggy and Buddy has some sweet felt trees that she made for her little ones to decorate (and undecorate)- simple and colorful and they work as decor when the kids aren’t playing!
Rainbow Snow Painting
And finally, what is winter without some rainbow snow painting, that is, if you are lucky (or unlucky) enough to live in a snowy climate? Click through to see exactly how we did it- guaranteed toddler fun!
Hope you enjoyed our little rainbow roundup and are having a wonderful holiday season!
