A Rainbow Fish for PaPa

If you’ve been following along on Facebook or Instagram, you’ve probably seen photos from our summer vacation here and there. We had a great time on the Texas coast, and on the way we stopped at another favorite place- PaPa’s house! PaPa (my sweet father-in-law) just moved to a new house with an incredibly amazing back yard.

It’s got magical pathways,

places to float little boats,

a “rockin'” outdoor kitchen,

and more rocks to make a “cowecshun” with PaPa.

And I haven’t even mentioned the creatures…

Somehow I did not get a good photo of the koi fish, but trust me, he’s got lots of them, too.

So we decided that to commemorate our trip to the beach, we’d bring PaPa a present for the garden.

We found a concrete fish at a little shop,

grabbed some pompoms and clothespins to serve as painting tools (thanks for the idea Fantastic Fun and Learning),

and let the twins have at it with a rainbow of Patio Paint(outdoor acrylics). I love how the dots of paint look just like scales- totally unintended but perfect!

And the rainbow fish has a new home by the bubbling stream. Right where he belongs.

  2. OMG! Where in Texas is this? I want to move there! This is a great idea for the kiddies. I am so gonna do this.

    • Haha, Heidi! Isn’t it gorgeous? PaPa lives in the San Antonio area. He found an awesome suburb in a heavily wooded area and scored this amazing property. It really is the stuff of dreams, especially for Texas!

  3. E.G. A lawn on a light sandy soil will most likely endure
from drought problems throughout a dry summer time. A garden that has a excessive clay content
material would require the next percentage sand to help with the drainage.
