Hello, friends! If you have been following on Facebook, you know that Twodaloo recently passed the 300 fans mark, and I wanted to celebrate that milestone with a sweet giveaway from one of my favorite shops, Mama May i!
You may remember Mama May i as the creator of the adorable wooden color sorting bowls and apples that I incorporated into our Rainbow Sensory Bin. There are so many things to love about this company- Jessica Perkins, the founder and principle designer of Mama May i, draws inspiration from learning-through-play philosophies including Montessori and Waldorf to create pieces that “nurture child development through open ended play.”
Jessica is a firm believer in sensory based learning, so you will find that her pieces are specially designed for little hands to create interesting tactile experiences. She also believes in protecting the earth and your little ones from harsh chemicals. Wooden playthings are created from locally sourced, untreated materials which are beautifully colored with plant-based pigments and finished with organic beeswax.
In addition to the sorting bowls and apples, we own the Little People Rainbow World set (above) and the Sorting Eggs set (below). They were the perfect stocking stuffers for the twins this Christmas.
This afternoon turned out to be relatively mild, so we took both play sets outside for some unstructured play.
The twins started by matching up all the little people to their “homes,” but quickly evolved into other activities.
My son enjoyed carefully arranging all the pieces on the stones of our new pathway.
My daughter was more interested in the well-being of the little people; she kept telling me they were “hungy.” So I helped her create play scenes for them using materials we found in the yard.
My son was fascinated by this homemade garden stepping stone this afternoon (I made it while I was pregnant), so I moved it out into the sun and he promptly “garnished” it with some little people. Everyone got their own little square to stand on!
I love how these simple, colorful works of art encourage open-ended play in a variety of ways. There are so many more beautiful, amazing things for sale in the Mama May i shop…the Chick A Dee Play Sets would make additions to Easter baskets, and I am positively drooling over these cheerful Welcome Bees in their Rainbow Hive!
And now, for the best part…
As a big “Thank You” to all of my supportive and amazing fans, I am giving away one set of these Color Sorting Eggs with Cups to one lucky winner!
