Little Moments: Metamorphosis and a Butterfly Parade

Autumn is a time of change. The leaves are changing. The light is changing. The days are growing shorter. It’s a great time to evaluate- to look at where you’ve been and where you are. And where you want to go.

This little blog has come a long way since February, when I rebranded as an official “kid blog” and decided to become more serious about building an online presence. I’ve made lots of great connections, some of whom have become close friends. I’ve expanded and challenged my ideas about early learning and play, and learned to embrace my creativity and take pride in being a maker.

I’m finding blogging to be an interesting balancing act in a lot of ways. I’m trying to write quality content that helps people, while also sharing things that simply bring me joy. Now when I write a post I often find myself wondering how well it will appeal to the masses, how many times it will be pinned on Pinterest, if anyone will share it on Facebook. And while these things are important to keep in mind when trying to earn money blogging (which I just started), I am afraid that I might lose my voice in the process. It’s important to me that I stay authentic and connected to those of you who read my posts day after day, not just those who drop in anonymously to view a cute photo shared on social media and leave again, never to return. I don’t want to let statistics rule my blogging decisions…you deserve better!

Along those lines, I am thinking about some small changes I would like to roll out over time here at Twodaloo. I’m going to start a little tradition today, and like everything else, we’ll see how it goes! In addition to the photographs I take with blog posts in mind, just like any other mama I take informal snapshots of our everyday lives that I share with loved ones and also on Instagram. Starting today I will take a few moments on the weekends to share some of those snapshots with you here on the blog. These posts are strictly for us…I won’t be promoting, pinning, or sharing them in the usual places. They are just a chance for me to write and share a little piece of our lives without worrying about social media or search engine optimization or Pinterest friendly images.

You really do a fantastic job of posting appealing, quality content that is heartfelt and genuine but also social media friendly. I always love reading your posts because A) you have amazing ideas and B) I know that they’re coming from an honest place (if that makes any sense).
