Love is in the air! Seriously, we are really digging on Valentine’s Day this year. And messy play. So we found it fitting to combine the two for some foaming hearts sensory play.

We started out by mixing up a batch of foaming dough using this fantastic recipe from Fun At Home With Kids. They used theirs to make a hilarious melting/foaming snowman- be sure to hop over and check it out and get the full instructions! We stuck with the same recipe (Asia worked hard to make sure it was mega foamy) but substituted 3 tablespoons of magenta liquid watercolors for some of the water to make our dough super pinkalicious 😉 We also added a few dozen shakes of red glitter (provided to us by Craft Project Ideas.com).
Once we created our dough, it was time to make some hearts! We spooned the dough into our favorite heart cookie cutters
and gently patted it down.
After removing our cookie cutter mold, we were left with some super sweet pink hearts. But the fun was just beginning!
Just like Asia recommended, we filled some cheap squeeze bottles (one of our art and sensory staple items) with plain white vinegar and let ’em rip!
The reaction was immediate.
After just a few moments we had TONS of pink sparkly foam!
I recommend using a bigger container than we did if you try this at home 😉
True to form, Will immediately dug in with both hands. He loved the mounds of “fuzzy bubbles.”
Sydney was a little more refined in her play- here she is daintily serving up some “ice cream” for Daddy.

If you are up for a fun and messy activity this week, this one is definitely worth a try! Thanks again to Fun at Home with Kids for the awesome foaming dough recipe (click link to get the recipe and try it yourself)!

LOVE!!!!! They are too cute!!! I am so glad you guys tried it and I love your Foaming Hearts!!!!
I did this with my daughter. She loved it! Just be careful. She got a little exuberant with the vinegar and it splashed back into her eyes. Goggles? Safe distance? Not sure how we will adjust it next time but just be careful.
