So, today we decided to turn our front window into a giant monster.
Now that’s a sentence you don’t hear everyday.
May I introduce…Frankenwindow!
Isn’t he gnarly?
Here’s what we used to make him (affiliate links provided- they keep us in googly eyes):
- Clear Contact paper
- Green tissue paper (face)
- Black yarn (hair)
- Black construction paper (mouth and pupils)
- Paper plates (eyes)
- Black artist tape
/painter’s tape (stitches)
We made three separate collages that added up to one window of AWESOME.
First, the hair. I cut up a large pile of yarn. The twins did the rest.
Next, the face. The twins did the ripping and the sticking. Lots of great fine motor practice. I outlined the mouth and they filled it in with the black construction paper. All I did was help them fill in any gaps. To finish off our creation, I made a few stitches using the black tape and stuck some large circles of black construction paper on two white paper plates for the eyes.
The kids love him. They call him “Frank” and tell him what they want for Christmas.
Hey. They aren’t even three yet. Cut ‘em some slack- we’re having fun
