Patriotic Drizzle-Painted Pot

Hi friends! I hope all my readers in the States are enjoying a nice long holiday weekend! I thought I would post a quick project I did with the twins yesterday afternoon, just in time for Memorial Day!

It’s been raining on and off around here for several days, not to mention we’ve come down with our first summer cold, so we’ve spent a few more afternoons inside than we are used to. The twins were bouncing off the walls yesterday afternoon, so I threw down a tarp, pulled out some old clothes, and set out a large clay pot, some red and white Patio Paint, and a few plastic spoons.

I showed the twins how to drizzle the paint onto the pots with the spoons (really wish I had a couple of honey dippers for this activity). They drizzled, streaked, and splattered the red and then the white paint onto the pot. Then we had a good scrub in the big bathtub!

After bedtime I taped off the rim of the now-dry pot and painted the rim a pretty dark blue. This morning we planted a vibrant green coleus in the pot, and voila! Patriotic perfection in a toddler-painted pot ;)
