Today I just had to share some photos with you of what could be the most adorable dress I’ve ever made!
Behold, the “Baby Doll Twirl Dress” from Little Lizard King Patterns.
Love, Love, LOOOOVVEEEE this dress!
And so does Miss Toots! The second I put it on her, she let out a delighted squeal and began twirling around the living room. Then she ran to our master bath, where I found her twisting and turning to-and-fro in front of the mirror, coo-ing and ooh-ing and aah-ing at her reflection. It was the sweetest thing, and made me tear up a little bit. She really is becoming a little girl right before my eyes!
I have used several Little Lizard King PDF patterns and have yet to be disappointed. If you are unfamiliar with PDF patterns, they are actually sewing tutorials written in the form of an electronic PDF, including pattern pieces for you to print out. Every pattern I have purchased has been very detailed and easy to follow, with tons of color pictures to guide you through the process. This was especially helpful when I first started sewing and needed extra guidance- the photos really helped me understand all the new terminology. I also love that her patterns are available for instant download, and that she encourages customers to use her patterns to make outfits to sell locally or online. Our “America’s Sweetheart” Ruffled Bubble is also a Little Lizard King pattern!
This dress was surprisingly easy to sew. It took me about half a day (with frequent interruptions) to get it done. I used five different coordinating fabrics and tied it all together with turquoise topstitching. Having a serger really sped up the process because the long edges of each tier have to be finished in some way before construction to prevent fraying, which could have been very tedious with a zigzag or overlocking stitch on a standard sewing machine!

The tutorial includes instructions for three different sleeve options- shirred, enclosed elastic, or flutter style. I chose the flutter sleeve option and think it was the perfect choice to balance out the flouncy skirt.
I added some decorative star stitching along the front neckline for added interest, since I can’t seem to leave well enough alone
Miss Toots is not the only one who loves new clothes. When I brought out her new dress, Little Man got jealous and ran to get his new overalls from my last post so he could wear a new outfit, too. Then he proceeded to roll around on the sidewalk attempting to squash every ant he could find with his finger.
Sigh.
There’s never a dull moment around here!
Until next time,
Twodaloo!
** I was in no way compensated by Little Lizard King for this post- I simply love her patterns and wanted to share with my readers! All opinions are completely my own.
