In the midst of all the activities we have going on around here, Father’s Day seemed to sneak up on us this year. With just a few days to go, I decided a fun photo shoot was in order to celebrate the occasion. It’s been hotter than the devil around these parts, and what better way to cool off than with a nice big ice cream cone, sprinkles and all?
Believe it or not, I took around 150 pictures to get a few good ones for this project. If you have ever had a toddler, you know how hard it can be to get them to hold still long enough to snap a photo. Twin toddlers? Fugeddaboudit!
But with a large dose of perseverance, realistic expectations, a fun activity, and some creative photo editing, success is possible.
It doesn’t hurt to have a cute prop or backdrop as well.
Our “Sweet on You” sign was the perfect way to let the Dads in our lives know how much we love them. And the best part? I was able to put it together in about 20 minutes. Wanna know how?
- Find a frame. This one I found at a junk store several years ago and has been waiting for the perfect project ever since. I recently spray painted it blue for our ‘Stache Bash photo booth.
- Find some black foam core board. I got a large piece from Hobby Lobby. Measure your frame and cut the board to size with an Exacto knife. It makes an easy alternative to a chalk board and can be reused.
- Create your design with chalk. I used a box of colored sidewalk chalk that we already owned.
And the finished product?
Pretty sweet, huh?
We used them for Father’s Day gifts, but they would also be perfect for Valentine’s Day, Thank You gifts, etc.
