Nutella Frosting Three Ways!

For this week’s mouthful, I thought I would pull together three different recipes that I have tried for the ultimate sinful delight…Nutella frosting!  Browse through these treats and you are sure to find the perfect frosting for every occasion.  You can’t go wrong with Nutella!

1.  Fudgy Nutella Buttercream

I used this recipe from 52 Kitchen Adventures to create a rich Nutella buttercream frosting for some decadent cupcakes I created for a Baby ‘Stache Bash shower.  The swiss chocolate cupcakes were from a boxed mix (shhh!) and filled with a salted caramel filling also from 52 Kitchen Adventures. This frosting is very dense and rich. It held its shape well when piping, but it was hard to give each swirl a neat finish because of the stiff texture.  The party guests didn’t seem to mind, though, because the cupcakes were a hit! Hop over to 52 Kitchen Adventures for the recipe.

2.  Easy Nutella Glaze

I’m not sure if this frosting actually qualifies as a glaze, but I think of it that way because it needs to be warm when you spread it.  It consists of two simple ingredients- Nutella and sweetened condensed milk (my two favorite things) and has a slightly gooey, sticky texture.  It was perfect on top of my Sour Cream Banana Sheet Cake.  Click on over to my original post for the recipe.  It was a winner for sure!

3.  Fluffy Nutella Buttercream

In the tradition of saving the best for last, I present to you heaven in a bowl…Fluffy Nutella Buttercream.  I found the recipe at Kitchen Treaty and made it this afternoon as the filling for some Chocolate Whoopie Pies (cookie recipe found here).  Oh. My. Stars.  It was a beautiful thing, indeed.  Fluffy, airy, whipped into a frenzy…I could eat an entire bowl in one sitting!  You have GOT to try it…you won’t regret it.  I’ll post the recipe below for your eating pleasure.  Thank you, Kitchen Treaty!

  2. Add the vanilla extract and salt and whip for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Add the whipping cream and beat for about one minute, until the frosting lightens slightly in both color and texture.
