Hi friends! Today I want to share a fun snack that I made for the twins last week- Watermelon Ladybug Pops!

If you’ve been following us on Facebook, you know that we have been going crazy for creepy crawlers! This snack was inspired by the twins’ insect obsession and was so much fun to make. For the body, I used an upside down drinking glass to cut circles out of a slice of watermelon. I used three dark chocolate chips for the ladybug’s spots (you could also use blueberries or raisins), a grape for the head, and fruit leather for the antennae and legs. For added fun, I stuck cookie sticks into each watermelon circle so the twins could have a fun (and slightly less juicy) way to eat the watermelon. I had these completed and waiting for them after their nap one afternoon, but this is a snack that children could easily help create!
When I was searching for inspiration for our little snack, I came across these ADORABLE Babybel Cheese Ladybugs from Cute Food For Kids- Will and Sydney would adore these!
Also, Fantastic Fun and Learning has the cutest roundup of Healthy Flower Snacks for Kids that are fun, wholesome, and gorgeous to look at!
And finally, if it’s ladybug inspiration you’re after, here is a magnetic ladybug counting game that I recently created for the twins- they love the magnetic pompoms!
That’s it for now! This post kicks off our Creepy Crawlers theme- I have so many great insect and backyard animal posts to share, we’ll be going buggy for a big chunk of the summer! Later this week I will be talking about Building Language in the Kitchen for our last installment of the Playing with Language series, so check back for more fun kid recipes, too.
