Hi everyone! Hope you all had a happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a few photos of some play activities that we have done over the last week or so, most of which will never make it to the blog. Not because they aren’t fun, but because I just plain can’t post everything we do! Keeping up with my goal of posting 3-4 days a week is crazy enough, and I have pages and pages of ideas for posts written down in my notebook that I’m pretty sure I’ll never get to. Luckily, after finally acquiring an iPhone in December, I discovered the wonderful world of Instagram, which allows me to capture playful moments throughout our day and share them with you!
Playing in a giant cardboard box with dried pasta, pinto beans, and vintage cooking utensils!
The photos in this post were also shared on our Facebook fan page, so if you follow us there, you may have seen some of them. But there are many more that can only be found on my Instagram feed!
When toddlers dress themselves…
This one did make it to the blog. Our first “sculpture!”
We love playing with the overhead projector.
Painting with mini-potatoes…a big hit!
We just got a new Learning Tower, and it has been fantastic for getting the kids helping in the kitchen. Here they are washing clementines in the sink, and learning about sinking and floating!
One of my favorite photos yet, my son enjoying a book in a fort made of old window sheers. I knew I kept those around for a reason!
I also post the occasional picture of projects I’m working on, like this rainbow of felt above, or books I’m reading. I love finding beauty in everyday objects!

I SO need to get on the Instagram bandwagon. These are all awesome, thanks for sharing! We coincidentally did potato painting yesterday — I “carved” them into stamps for Ethan to use. SUCH a huge hit!
I love the idea of the big box with dried beans. Ethan’s sick, so we’re cooped up inside (and it’s pouring constantly today, ugh!) and I want to try and find a box and do this one. He’d love it!
Yes, you need to jump on in…Instagram is so much fun, especially if you are a visual person! The big box has been a hit, and it helps corral the mess just a little bit. I’m trying to give them some gentle boundaries with sensory play now that they are getting older…I don’t mind spills as part of the play process, but spills purely to get a reaction from me are a bit annoying
The box gives them a lot of freedom while providing a clear place for the material to stay.
